Achievements of Towneley Hall Society

Since the Society's formation it has contributed towards many projects:

The Museum of Local Crafts and Industries
This was opened in 1971 then refurbished in 1993.

The Restoration of the Regency Rooms
Including the purchase of curtains, harp, chair and stand
and a stool by George Bullock.

The Natural History Centre
Including the provision of items for the displays, furniture, video and computer equipment. (The Centre is currently closed).

 

 

 

The Art Gallery
Including the purchase of paintings by the Burnley artist
Noel H. Leaver and Hugh Gresty.

The Towneley Collection
Including the purchase of the Towneley and O’Hagan chalice
accompaniments.

PLEASE NOTE: some of the areas mentions above do have scheduled opening.

The Society has also increased the comfort of visitors to Towneley Hall by providing funds for seating in the Art Gallery, chairs around the Hall and lighting on the approach to the Hall.
